Capsize Drills

Year 9 boys were put through their paces by the boat club yesterday as they had to go through the annual rite of passage that is the capsize drill. In order to start rowing at Shiplake the boys had to show that they could swim on circuit of the school pool and then capsize a boat and handle it safely back to shore.

This always creates a lot excitement and perhaps some anxiousness, after all who would really want to throw themselves in to the Thames. However, all boys passed and can now look forward to their first few proper strokes in the coming weeks.

Lots of photos in the house gallery of every boy for the parents to see.
